Maintenance Worker I - Community Engagement and Events
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of routine custodial and grounds maintenance tasks, e.g., edging, mowing, trimming, waste and litter removal, fertilizing, placing sod, raking, planting, etc.May perform minor maintenance and repairs on structures, facilities, equipment, streets, sidewalks and other City property in one or more of the skilled and semi-skilled disciplines, e.g., streets maintenance, utility plant maintenance, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, and flooring.Operates a wide variety of light and medium equipment and machinery, e.g., automobile, pickup truck, dump truck, roller, bucket truck, sky track, forklift, back hoe, lawn mower, tractor, street sweeper, track drilling equipment, knuckle boom refuse loading equipment, rear loading garbage truck, paving machines and roller equipment.Operates various standard hand-held manual, electrical, and gas powered tools and equipment, e.g., hammer, shovel, rake, screw drivers, wrenches, digging bar, chainsaw, chemical sprayer leaf blower, weed eater, hedge trimmers, edger.Cleans, maintains and adjusts tools, equipment and machinery, e.g., maintains fluids, performs general servicing and minor repairs.Depending on assigned department, this position may:Provide traffic control at job sites.Clean and maintain departmental offices, sweeping, dusting, and mopping.Perform routine departmental duties such as digging, carpentry, raking, shoveling, brick and block laying, and concrete work.Pick up and process trash and debris.Maintain and drive the trash truck and snow plow.Will be required to work late hours, weekends, and snow and emergency response.Performs related duties as assignedSKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Excellent work history and attendance record.Must possess a valid driver's license.
