Lifting 30-50 pounds is commonlyrequired. *JobDuties: *TheMissoula North MaintenanceTeam Supervisor ispartoftheParksand Outdoor Recreation Division and amemberof the Region 2 maintenance team.Incoordinationwith theRegion 2Maintenance Manager, Stewardship Bureau Chief, and regional staff,the position directly and through subordinates identifies maintenanceneeds, establishes workflows for regular and routine tasks, and assists in establishing priorities for major maintenance projects.Theposition oversees and participates in personnelmanagement of maintenance staff, including Maintenance Worker 1 & 2 positions, and performs and oversees recordkeeping of maintenance activities. The incumbentis responsible for conducting,coordinating,overseeing, and inspectingwork performed; maintaining, repairing, and constructing buildings and facilities; and managing equipment fleets in a proactive, sustainable manner. Maintenance oversight responsibilitiesinclude: habitat maintenance such asfertilizing, treeplanting, mowing, managing large scale irrigation systemsand infrastructure maintenance such as Public water systems, sewage lift stations,vault latrines, historic sites and structures; campgrounds, picnicshelters; boat docks and ramps; solid rail and wirefences; paved and gravel roadways and parking areas; paved and aggregate surfaced trails; directional, information, and interpretive signs/kiosks; and maintenance shop facilities and other associated infrastructure, equipment, and the ability to weld and fabricate specialized equipment, and be able to repair and maintain all theequipment (from hand tools up to heavy equipment). // *Knowledge,Skills,andAbilities: The incumbent must demonstrate theability to work in a team atmosphere with regional maintenance staff, recreation managers, managementbiologists, and gamewardens.Theability toeffectively communicate verballyand inwritingwith diverse groups of people and personalities is imperative.The incumbentmust becapable of building and maintaining interpersonal relationships with staff and possess knowledge of supervisory and management principles. The incumbent isresponsible forcarrying outand providingguidance and direction tostaffandcontractors conducting various types of maintenance work.They should possess the following knowledge and skills: • Weedcontroleffortsutilizingchemical,biological,andmechanicalcontrolsasalicensedapplicator. • HowtorunapublicwatersystemandwatersamplingprocessincompliancewithMontanaDEQ. • Knowhowto runandMaintainsewageliftstations. • ProficiencywithMSOfficeespeciallyExcel • Working knowledge ofmethodsand practicesofgeneral maintenance and construction work including, butnotlimited to, carpentry, plumbing, welding, engine repair, and electrical work. • Proficient knowledge related tosafety protocols, traffic laws,Personal ProtectiveEquipment, and propertowing protocols; and the ability to train staff accordingly. • Working knowledgeofthecareand useoftoolsandoperation of a variety ofheavy and lightconstruction equipment.This includes familiarity with routine equipment maintenance and the ability to training staff on operation. Education&Experience: The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combinationof education and experience equivalent to a 2-year degree/training in maintenance, Industrial Arts, Natural Resource Management,Engineering Technology,Mechanics, Land Management, or a related field and/or atleast 5years of general facilities maintenance, construction,repair work,orwork in asimilar field.Othercombinations ofeducation and experience will beconsidered ona case-by-casebasis. • Montana Public operator's water license class4, Basic FirstAid/CPR certification,and Government Pesticide Applicator's license are required for this position.The incumbent must have to ability to acquire the proper license/certification and maintain through continuing education and re-certification testing. • This position may require aMontana Commercial DriversLicenseType2ClassBandtheability to drive and operate combination vehicles over 26,000lbs G.V.W. safely and effectively.
