DescriptionPosition SummaryProvides safe efficient age specific nursing care for inmates at the Portage County Correctional Facilities using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health statusEssential FunctionsHigh level of autonomy in clinical skills, critical thinking, and decision making with minimal supervision.Functions in accordance with the professional standards of the Ohio board of nursing.Completes/submits required documentation accurately and in real time.Evaluates all new inmates for a complete history and physical, including PPD test.Respond to all medical incidents within the jail.Completes medication administration to inmates within the jail according to best practice model.Delivers effective relationship based nursing care.Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.Demonstrates nursing care delivery that is in compliance with all state, federal and local regulations.Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.Maintains professional accountability and boundaries.Adheres to Service Excellence Standards of BehaviorAdditional ResponsibilitiesRefers to mental health services as needed.Required For All JobsPerforms other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
