Beyond the Sanctuary (BTS) is a community-based organization, that addresses the physical and emotional challenges of poverty, low income, and hunger for individuals in the Rochester community through subsidized training, coaching, and meaningful employment with partnering agencies.
BTS's Job Readiness Support Program (JRSP) has several key aspects -
(1) Enables our target population (unemployed, underemployed, hard to employ, primarily African American and other disadvantaged populations in Monroe County) to become thriving, self-sufficient, working adults; (2) Coordinate with local training partners to build skill sets of participants in JRSP(3) Provides comprehensive Unique Wrap-Around Support Services to equip the hard-to-employ and underemployed for success in the workplace;(3) Engages employer partners who commit to hiring our Participants and being a partner with JRSP in providing support that will ensure success through the first year of employment.
JRSP partners with training organizations who provide training for participants in the fields of Construction, Pharmacy Technician, Sterile Processing Technician.
The life skills coach is a compassionate individual with a desire to assist individuals as they utilize their skills and experience to overcome the devastating impacts of poverty, health disparities, and racial inequity in our community in a collaborative, compassionate, and dignified manner. The life skills coach is part of a collaborative team that includes the JRSP director, business liaison and health and wellness coach. We desire a coach who has cultural awareness for our anticipated client base.
Life Skills Coach - DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn addition to participating in team meetings and client assessment discussions, the life skills coach will also: Identify and evaluate client assessment tools from established sourcesAdminister initial client assessment and maintain status as coaching and training evolvesDevelop and expand current curriculum of life skills classesExplore community partners and other resources to help develop specific skills that our clients needHelp build specific soft skill for clients, either by direct teaching or securing other knowledgeable resourcesMeet regularly with clients and coordinate client needs confidentially with health and wellness coach plus the business liaison coach, to build trust and rapport with clientsRequired to regularly document and analyze performance data to improve client success & provide metrics for our grant providersHelp build a strong team through open communication and collaboration, from training phase through employment phaseWork with paid staff and volunteers to further advance the JRSP program

JRSP Life Skills Coach: EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTSDesired relevant fields include: human resources, social work, education, or communications. Bachelor's degree desired but not required. Open for the right candidate and/or set of relevant experiences.
JRSP Life Skills Coach: EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSMust have at least 2 years of prior coaching or mentoring experience, in either a paid or intensive volunteer setting. Experience working in a professional setting with ability to demonstrate a foundational knowledge of business communication, project planning, and talent development.
