DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates sensitivity and the respect for the cultural diversity of others
Follow the responsibilities, as necessary, of a mandated reporter
Remain alert and responsive while on scheduled shift(s).
Facilitates active participation of the residents by implementing their individual program plan in their home and out in their community. Completion of this responsibility occurs while working closely with fellow staff, as well as, working one-on-one with a resident in an isolated environment within the house or out in the community. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in necessary lifting, moving and positioning tasks; facilitating improved gross motor, fine motor and range of motion skills; promoting self care, activities of daily living and personal hygiene; fostering receptive and expressive communication through many different avenues such as, sign language, pictograms, electronic devices, etc; assisting with meals through modeling appropriate behavior, therapeutic feeding and use of therapeutic equipment; assisting with recreational activities and facilitating active engagement in community outings; accurate and consistent implementation of behavior support plans/SCIPr.
Is responsible for accurately and consistently completing all required documentation practices.
Facilitates and/or provides for the personal and physical care needed by each individual including tasks such as bathing, toileting, eating and dressing.
Purchases all household items, dietary, linens, client need items, furniture and small appliances as needed according to Agency purchasing procedures.
Maintains expenditures of all purchases as per Agency procedure and maintains spending within the designated budget.
Organizes all food preparation schedules for all meals in accordance with dietary needs as written on the master menu.
Coordinates menu planning and required documentation in conjunction with the Dietician or designee as needed.
Organizes a schedule of all household tasks and ensures that necessary household tasks are completed by residential direct support staff.
Performs housekeeping tasks including tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, laundry and shopping.
In keeping with confidentiality and HIPAA practices, communicates a wide range of information regarding the residents to a variety of people in and out of the residential program such as co-workers, teachers, supervisors and parents.
Monitors petty cash expenditures and assures that necessary banking and banking procedures are routinely completed.
Completes a Personal Expenditure Plan (PEP) and a Money Management Assessment (MMA) for each resident upon admission and annually thereafter.
Opens a bank account, adhering to regulatory guidelines, for each resident. Maintains that bank account for direct deposit of Social Security benefits. Makes the monthly rent payment for each resident to the Accounts receiveable Bookkeeper by the 5 th of each month.
Monitors any spending of the residents' personal allowance within the established guidelines, maintaining an accurate record of all transactions, timely deposits of all checks and completion of an annual report to parents/guardians.
Assists each resident in participating in spending their money as they choose and learning how to manage their money with individualized and person-centered goals.
Ensures the Residence Manager and Maintenance Supervisor are aware when appliance or home repair is needed.
In conjunction with the Residence Manager, provides or arranges for the care of any residents who are unable to attend school, work or adult day services.
In conjunction with the Residence Manager, provides or arrnages for transportation for any resdient to and from school, work or adult day services to an appointment, as necessary.
Attends and actively participate in, at least, biweekly staff meetings as scheduled or requested by the Residence Manager.
Is responsible for following the Code of Ethics for Direct Support Professionals, as well as, show proficiency in the Core Competencies to ensure person-centered supports for the residents.
Implements fire, safety and emergency procedures and assists with fire drills.
Implements and follows all required individual programming, Agency and Program-specific policies and procedures accurately, consistently and according to how they are written.
Safely drives Agency vehicles. Assists in transportation to and from recreational activities and other appointments as required.
Maintains Agency-Approved Driver status, as well as, certifications in Medication Administration, SCIP-r, CPR and First Aid. Completes all required ongoing/annual trainings and inservices, as assigned.
Administers medications to residents in accordance with the Residential Medication policies and procedures.
Assumes shift supervisory responsibilities when requested.
Other duties may be assigned.
