  Job ID359212 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyEducation-General Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9753 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job Job Description The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota is looking for a lecturer to teach one introductory physics course and carry out other teaching duties, including discussion sections and laboratories. This position will be responsible for the following duties. Be the primary instructor for PHYS1102W, the second semester of algebra-based introductory physics. For this part of the appointment, the duties are: 40% Lectures and preparation, in accordance with departmental instructional guidelines. Administration of class (through Canvas) and communication with students Preparation of syllabus, quizzes, tests, homework Supervision of teaching assistant. 15% Responsibility for administration of one or more discussion sections of honors introductory physics. 40% Responsibility for an additional discussion section and/or laboratory for an introductory class as required. 5% Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Requirements Lecturer positions require a Ph.D. degree in physics. Applicable training and/or experience related to the assigned job responsibilities. The person in this position must have the ability to teach introductory physics courses at the undergraduate level. Preferred Requirements: University level teaching experience with introductory physics or related courses will be viewed favorably.
