  Position Description:

  Performs instructional and educational work while serving as a teacher in a classroom/lab. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators. May supervise clerical, professional and/or technical employees and lab students working for college credit.

  Major/Essential Functions:

  Serve as the primary teacher of the iOS Design Lab with major focus on the K-12 audience.

  Identify, plan, evaluate, and implement training content and programs for iOS Lab participants.

  Provide iOS app design and development training for K-12 and business professional customers of the iOS Design Lab.

  Coordinates educational instruction, events, and projects with K12 and STEM audiences, business professionals, and other community partners.

  Develop course/event schedules and select and prepare educational materials.

  Deliver presentations and provide instruction in a classroom setting.

  Provide quality instruction, appropriate assistance, learning resources, and tutoring while utilizing interactive and intensive instructional methods.

  Develop new initiatives such as school and business partnerships to form productive relationships leading potentially to enrollment in academic programs and support the strategic direction of the iOS Lab.

  Develop, market, and coordinate activities to expand site awareness and utilization such academic workshops, continuing education, certificate programs, etc.

  Demonstrate basic knowledge and continued learning advancement of iOS design and development tools and coding, including Swift, X-code, and general design methods.

  Adhere to TTU policies and standards and ensure academic rigor and integrity.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  Teaching and training experience with 3 years minimum in an in-person classroom.

  Proficient presentation and instruction skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.

  Proven success in critical performance areas (i.e. teaching and coordination) to effectively align with and support key business objectives.

  Demonstrated success managing students and developing partnerships.

  Track record of developing and coordinating successful projects and events.

  Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds including but not limited to K-12 students, local communities, businesses, university administration, staff, and alumni.

  Entrepreneurial mindset and vision.

  Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.

  M-F 8:00 - 5:00 / travel as needed/ overtime as needed

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Master’s Degree.

  Apple iOS Certificate.

  Understanding of online and distance education.

  PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  Texas Certified through CTE Business Teacher.

  Knowledge of iOS design and development code and tools, including Swift, X-code, UIKit, Storyboard, and design methods.

  Ability to plan, conceptualize, and make sound business decisions.

  Ability to improve organizational effectiveness through critical analysis and problem-solving.

  Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  Must exercise considerable independent and professional judgement.

Texas Tech University is seeking a Lead Teacher responsible for coordinating and facilitating iOS Design Lab activities with our K-12 partners in the DFW metroplex. Be part of the Texas Tech launch of the iOS Design Lab in our new multi-purpose site located in Irving Texas.

  The iOS Design Lab will be the first of its kind in the region, offering training and support for iOS design and development. The program will remove barriers and provide clear paths to encourage innovation with a focus on serving Texas Tech students, K-12 groups, the local community, and corporate partners in the DFW Metroplex. This is an exciting initiative and an amazing opportunity to be a part of something great.

  The ideal candidate has an energetic, contagious personality with a passion for teaching and willingness to learn high-level aspects of the iOS app design and development process. The ability to work with a wide range of K-12 age groups with varying needs and goals.
