  Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach

  Education:

  Master’s degree in any field with graduation from an accredited college/university, or a bachelor’s  degree and five (5) full years’ SCC experience, two of which will be operating independently within the Army’s H2F Program

  Possess a current certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) as a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Minimum of three full years of relevant SCC work experience within the last five year.   Relevant experience is defined as independently developing and executing task and environment specific functional injury control and health/well- being programs for groups of athletes or DoD/Department of Homeland Security / Department of Justice entities focused on a common sport or mission performance goal. Employment related to internships or graduate work up to one year will be considered towards relevant experience. SCC internships are being conducted across multiple H2F BDEs through university partnerships.

  Possess or ability to obtain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification with Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certification. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.

  Ability to read, write, and speak English and effectively communicate with Soldiers and leadership.

  Have the ability to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and Teams.

  Capable of properly lifting and manipulating loads or weights up to 45 pounds and capable of meeting physical demands of training in all types of weather with Soldiers including the ability to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments to observe Soldier training evolutions and to train, educate, coach, and mentor.

  Capable of observing, demonstrating, and correcting Soldier’s performance of training/exercise techniques and form.

  Not have been convicted of a felony.

  U.S. Citizen.

  Ability to provide health and immunization records.

  Valid Driver’s License.

  Duties and Responsibilities:

  Serve as BDE Lead SCC and principal advisor to the BDE PD on physical performance optimization.

  Assist the BDE in improving Soldier physical readiness by developing, coordinating, executing, and managing recommended and approved H2F System strength and conditioning programs.

  Develop lines of communication within the BDE and BN leadership and participate in associated training and other meetings.

  Coordinate, execute, and manage approved physical performance optimization programs within the framework of the unit’s training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture.

  Develop and recommend evidence-based, periodized strength and conditioning programs focused on unit mission and individual Soldier tasks IAW H2F System that are synchronized and integrated with unit training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture and implement upon Government approval.

  As required, submit recommended strength and conditioning programs, with quantified training loads, to the BDE PD for approval and implement upon Government approval.

  Track Soldier/unit progression and provide data to the BDE PD as required.

  Coordinate and assist the BDE PD and/or the Injury Control Director to develop, coordinate, and execute approved training programs for Soldiers with physical limitations that are medically cleared for strength and conditioning training/reconditioning.

  Coordinate with BDE PD to ensure all strength and conditioning education and services are synchronized and integrated with approved education and services provided by H2F Performance Team.

  Coach and mentor,  the BDE SCCs, unit fitness leaders and H2F Integrator. Travel may be required to perform this task for geographically disbursed SCCs.

  Provide recommended and approved instruction and guidance to Soldiers and the BDE leadership on physical strength and conditioning with regards to injury mitigation strategies collaboratively with the H2F Performance Team.

   Identify and direct Soldiers with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition to the appropriate medical professionals for evaluation and treatment.

  Ensure documentation and reporting of data IAW guiding instructions provided by the BDE PD.

  As required, participate (virtual or in-person) in H2F System reviews to identify best practices and lessons learned throughout the H2F System and recommend opportunities for improvement.

   Compile monthly BDE summary report and submit to the BDE PD by the 5th calendar day of the month.

  Report Contractor planned absences to the BDE PD on a weekly basis and daily Un forecasted  absences each morning NLT 0900 along with a coverage plan as applicable.

  Participate in program quality assurance of the training programs per guiding instructions provided by the BDE PD to ensure training programs are aligned with industry standards and provide a report monthly.

  Participate in periodic meetings to provide a report on physical training program and recommendations/feedback on Soldier/unit progression.

  Track and document Soldier/unit progression on a regular basis and recommend opportunities for improvement to the Government.

  Ensure safe and effective operation of equipment used within their work capacity which contributes to a safe working environment. Where deficiencies exist regarding SCC supplies, equipment utilization and needs, bring to the attention of leadership.

  Coordinate scheduling of facilities for Government approved courses, training, and classes as applicable.

  Develop and execute strength and conditioning programs IAW FM 7-22 Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F).

  Assist the Lead SCC with developing, coordinating, executing, and managing recommended and approved strength and conditioning programs.

  Develop lines of communication within the BDE, BN and Company leadership, including participating in associated training and other meetings.

  Coordinate, execute, and manage approved physical performance optimization training programs within the framework of the unit’s training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture.

  Identify and recommend opportunities for H2F System improvement to Lead SCC.

  Observe BDE specific training events (e.g., shooting range, obstacle courses, combative  training areas, etc.) as required.
