Is responsible for safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against such threats as: unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction. Perform installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders, and regulatory requirement guide. Perform Visitor Control Duties by authenticating identification and granting or denying access to the installation. Make daily assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas. Inspect containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial and governmental vehicle to allow or deny entry to the installation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes enforcing access control for pedestrians and vehicles following standard operating security procedures; safeguarding personnel, information and critical assets against unlawful entry, sabotage, theft or willful damage; using an automated system, such as National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal, to perform queries to screen visitors and personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Access Control Operations Interpersonal Skills Security Enforcement Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Additional Information Vacancy closes on 8 April 2024. This is an Open and Continuous Job Announcement that will be open for 90 days. The first Referral List will be issued on 22 January 2023; then every 2 weeks thereafter. Recruitment will continue through the closing date to fill positions as they become vacant. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Career Program (CP) 19 -Physical Security and Law Enforcement position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Incentives and Relocation Costs Recruitment, Retention and Relocation incentives and Student loan repayment may be authorized. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. Salary negotiations for those candidates who are new to Federal service may be authorized. Credit for prior Non-Federal Worker experience and certain Military Service for determining annual leave accrual rate MAY be authorized. Conditions of Employment IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply. Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct; and when being considered for employment and periodically thereafter, they must be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program for social adjustment, emotional stability, sound judgment, dependability, flexibility in adjusting to changes, ability to work effectively under pressure or emergency conditions, and a positive attitude toward his/her duties. Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons. All weapons training and qualifications will be conducted IAW AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability. Standard for medical exams are prescribed in AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT). Failure to meet the PAT requirements as outline is Army Regulation 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Failure to meet the standards after the second attempt within a ninety-day period will result in separation. Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability. The duties and training required require for the employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.
