Support complex and critical projects that involveseveral technical systems and constituents. Work with a team of advancedengineers who support the development, integration, testing, andtroubleshooting of various technologies that support Charter's mobile/webvideo delivery, cloud infrastructure, and encryption/DRM solutions forproduction deployment and engineering labs. Participate in creatingarchitecture, specifications, and test plans for production productdeployment. Work cross-functionality with Product, Engineering, ProjectManagement, and Operations teams. Provide subject matter expertise in thefollowing areas: public/private CDNs (content delivery networks), IPnetworking, Cloud DVR (digital video recording), encodingtechnologies, packaging DRM (digital rights management), originalsolutions, VOD (video on demand), and Cloud infrastructuretechnologies. Provide analysis, specifications, and test plans in supportof various advanced engineering and development projects, including but notlimited to availability, elasticity, scale, performance, security,and control for private/public/hybrid cloud system architectures. Directthe evaluation and testing of new hardware platforms and technologies toprovide implementation and design documentation. Perform network designutilizing TCP, UDP, Anycast, Multicast, and BGP. Design virtualmachines and containers, including Private and Public cloudinfrastructure, OpenStack, VMware, Kubernetes, and Rancher. Storeusing object storage, block storage, file storage, CEPH, S3, andNFS. Utilize cloud-based DVR systems, including shared copy and pure privatecopy technologies. Encode using AVC and HEVC. Utilize CDN Architecture,including HLS, DASH, caching, Nginx, Varnish, and Apache. Automatewith Ansible, Chef, and Terraform in a cloud environment.
The Principal Engineer II requires a bachelor's degree, or foreignequivalent, in Engineering or a related field. 4 years of experienceperforming network design utilizing TCP, UDP, Anycast, Multicast, andBGP; and in encoding using AVC and HEVC. 3 years of experience designingvirtual machines and containers, including Private and Public cloudinfrastructure, OpenStack, VMWare, Kubernetes, and Rancher; instoring using object storage, block storage, file storage, CEPH, S3,and NFS; in utilizing cloud-based DVR systems, including shared copy andpure private copy technologies; in utilizing CDN Architecture, includingHLS, DASH, caching, Nginx, Varnish, and Apache. 2 years ofexperience automating with Ansible, Chef, and Terraform in a cloudenvironment. A hybrid office and remote work arrangement is available.
