The role you’ll contribute:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Responsible for coordination with educator for training/precepting of new Patient Care Techs
· Ensures orientation pathways are completed.
· Reviews shift responsibilities with new staff.
· Mentors and validates best practices for effective hourly visits.
· Serves as a trainer (as appropriate) for new equipment and processes.
· Coordinates unit duties to include but not limited to: sharp containers, pharmaceutical waste containers, blood glucose monitoring machines, isolation carts.
· Participates in annual review of standardized shift responsibilities.
· Performs as a team member in assisting with safe and effective patient care.
· Ensures personal hygiene and comfort care is delivered to all patients.
· Monitors skin condition on all patients for potential skin breakdown and implements preventative measures per wound/skin protocol. Communicates changes in skin integrity to the licensed nurse.
· Ensures patient rooms are neat and clean.
· Responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
· Maintains a safe patient care environment.
· Obtains vital signs as directed and reports abnormal findings to the licensed nurse.
· Obtains lab specimens per hospital policy and procedure.
· Transports patients as directed by licensed nursing personnel.
· Assists and promotes patient mobility and ambulation on the unit.
· Utilizes assistance ambulation devices as indicated.
· Performs advanced PCT Skills

The Lead Patient Care Technician is responsible to perform duties as assigned and directed by the licensed nurse in compliance with established process standards, structure standards and protocols of assigned units.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Effective Communication Skills required.
Highly organized individual who is able to effectively coordinate employee education.
Able to manage projects independently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· 2 years of healthcare clinical experience
· High School graduate or GED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
5 years’ healthcare clinical experience with proven leadership skills
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· BLS required
· Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
· 3 years’ experience as a Patient Care Tech may be substituted for CNA certification but must obtain within required timeframe
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
· PCTs (training and precepting)
· Chart audit
· Communication board audits
