The Surgical Scheduler II will be responsible for:
Scheduling inpatient and ambulatory gastroenterology procedures for the Gastroenterology Procedure Unit and satellite locations. Preparing complete daily surgical schedules, including special equipment requirements and incorporating radiology and other non‑surgical use of operating room facilities. Communicating with surgeons, the multidisciplinary team to obtain needed information, coordinate and confirm schedules and identify special requirements for procedures.
Recording scheduling information on hospital and departmental computer systems. Reviewing and verifying accuracy of basic patient information.
Printing and distributing daily GPU schedule to designated departments.
Identifying and communicating critical information, such as special supply and equipment requests and surgeon availability, to nursing and other appropriate staff as necessary. Training back‑up personnel on scheduling policies and procedures.
Working with nursing, surgical and anesthesiology staff to monitor and evaluate scheduling procedures and develop strategies to promote efficient utilization of surgical suites.
Responding to requests for routine information or assistance from patients/parents, visitors and hospital staff, referring inquiries requiring clinical or management judgment to appropriate personnel. Requesting clarification of assigned tasks or instructions from supervisor, as necessary.
Providing positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and Hospital operations.
Schedule: Monday- Friday, 100% Onsite, Rotating: , 6:15a-2:45p and 8:30a-5:00p.
To qualify you must have:
High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum 2 years of healthcare administrative experience with 1 year being direct surgical scheduling for external candidates.
Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
