Job ID359437 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyAdvancement Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code97174B Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job This position is responsible for leading and guiding existing and emerging fundraising programs for central University programs (enterprise units), including but not limited to the Office of Student Affairs, Office of Education & Diversity, Office of Undergraduate Education, and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association. They are also responsible for overall fundraising for the University Enterprise Units, and the creation and implementation of comprehensive giving programs within each unit, as well as creating and implementing a comprehensive training and education program for UM development officers. Starting salary: $140,000- 165,000 based on experience. RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Major Gift Development (60%): Serve as primary major gift development officer for OSA, OED, OUE and UMAA. Build and maintain relationships with a portfolio of assigned donors and prospects. Manage in varying stages of involvement an assigned caseload/portfolio of prospects and donors to ensure that timely steps are taken toward solicitation and gift closing. Provide leadership with each enterprise unit and respective team members to establish individual goals and metrics. Collaborate with Development colleagues system-wide to coordinate prospect engagement, and in so doing develop positive working relationships to ensure excellent prospect management. Make solo and joint (with development colleagues or academic leaders) personal, phone and email contacts with prospects to engage and assist them in their gift decision-making process. Exceed established standards for numbers of annual donor visits and other contacts. File electronic contact reports on donors and prospects contacted (face-to-face meetings, telephone, e-mail, and written correspondence contacts). Development Program and Staff Management (40%): Guide the respective fundraising development teams for enterprise units as described above, including oversight and/or the hiring, training, performance management, coaching and strategic guidance of development and advancement staff - including both UMF based staff and those located in the enterprise units. Provides leadership for the planning, execution, budgeting and assessment of strategic initiatives, with the overall goal to increase gift production within the enterprise units, and advance the effectiveness of their programs, along with ensuring donor satisfaction. Works directly with the respective leaders of the enterprise units, often at the Vice President level, both to ensure each program is guided by strategic objectives, as well as adequately resourced. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree required, and five years of demonstrated ability to successfully solicit major gifts; or experience in marketing, sales, public relations, financial advisement, or related field with emphasis on relationship cultivation and solicitation of individuals/businesses. Experience leading, supervising, or managing development teams or programs. Experience in managing and working with senior leaders.
