　　DEPARTMENT: Utilities DIVISION: Plant Operations/Wastewater Plant

　　REPORTS TO: WWTP Maint. Foreman APPROVED: JOB CODE: 7056

　　GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

　　Under general supervision; performs skilled work in the operation of anadvanced wastewater treatment

　　plant, collection system and related equipment; makes minor repairs andadjustments to equipment as

　　required. Work varies with some leeway for discretion and independentaction.

　　TYPICAL DUTIES:

　　o Works varied shifts including 8am-5pm; 12pm-12am; 12am-12pm, includingsome weekends

　　o Keeps daily logs of shift operations; utilizes monitoring equipmentand maintains records; draws

　　samples for laboratory analysis

　　o Performs preventive maintenance on equipment; performs custodial worksuch as cleaning, painting

　　and mowing

　　o Receives and addresses customer concerns

　　o Performs overtime as needed and other duties as assigned

　　SUPERVISION - RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:

　　None

　　MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

　　Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the following:

　　o High school diploma or G.E.D

　　o Possession of a Kansas Class I Wastewater Facility OperatorCertificate, or ability to obtain within two

　　(2) years from start date of employment

　　o Two (2) years of experience in mechanical and electrical equipmentmaintenance, or related work

　　o Possession of a valid Kansas drivers license

　　RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:

　　This position has a 40 minute response time by way of the most directroute and within the posted speed

　　limits; or must live within the city limits of Salina, Bennington,Minneapolis, McPherson, Solomon,

　　Abilene, or Carneiro.

　　ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

　　Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellowemployees, officials and the public.

　　Utilize electronic and mechanical equipment to monitor processes.(Daily)

　　Maintains accurate records of operations, events and customer concerns.(Daily)

　　Collect samples and conduct tests according to prescribed standards.(Daily)

　　Determine the cause of minor system malfunctions and apply remedialactions. (Daily)

　　Maintain and operate plant equipment to produce a quality Waste WaterTreatment Plant effluent.
