　　What will you do in this role?

　　As Lead Data Scientist within the Innovation & Analytics team, you will be at the leading edge of AXIS’s work on Generative AI and more traditional data science techniques. You will have the opportunity to experiment with and develop innovative models and capabilities, advocate for the benefits of AI/ML, train and inspire your colleagues and customers, and ultimately be on the frontier of the data science journey at AXIS.

　　Additionally, you will be responsible for:

　　Testing, Prototyping and Developing AI / ML led solutions, including GenAI, with the support of data engineers from elsewhere within AXIS, to solve identified business problems and deliver tangible benefits.

　　Reviewing and understanding the assumptions and controls underlying third party products and providing recommendations on appropriateness of use and additional controls required for safe implementation.

　　Building strong relationships with your Analytics & Innovation leads, leveraging these relationships to support the identification of AI/ML solutions to our business problems.

　　Advocating for data science and AI/ML in AXIS. You will be the face of data science in AXIS and must be a passionate and inspiring voice.

　　Upskilling your colleagues in AL and ML techniques and tools, providing expert insights to existing and emerging tools and techniques.

　　Engaging with the data governance function to help inform and guide the governance of data science, ML and AI at AXIS

　　Supporting and driving engagements with external partners in order to augment and expand capabilities, ensuring AXIS governance standards are followed throughout.

　　Working in close partnership with Operations to support process innovation and ensure effective delivery and implementation of new capabilities.

　　This role reports to the Head of Innovation & Analytics.

　　About You:

　　What you need to have:

　　Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a highly analytical subject; professional experience in data science.

　　Expert knowledge of SQL, Python and Microsoft Azure for producing data science work product.

　　Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to win confidence of business partners and inspire engagement.

　　A strong knowledge of modern technologies, with ability to communicate proficiently with Technology partners.

　　Strong knowledge of traditional machine learning techniques and GenAI.

　　Experience leading projects and small teams.

　　A naturally curious disposition and an entrepreneurial desire to explore innovative solutions.

　　What we prefer you to have:

　　Experience with Databricks and Azure Cognitive Services

　　Experience with GenAI / LLMs

　　Experience in the insurance industry

　　Experience with assessing/critiquing third party solutions and overseeing vendor management

　　Experience in data governance, data privacy and SecOps.
