Position: Laborer (Dept. of Transportation)
Duties: Performs a variety of physical labor tasks to accomplish themission of the department on work sites. Cleans and prepares roadconstruction sites by removing debris or possible hazards. Cleans andmaintains irrigation and storm water ditches by removing debris or possibleobstruction to the natural or manmade flow of water. Loads or unloads avariety of materials as required for the job site, either by hand or withthe use of equipment. Performs manual labor tasks such as digging,trenching, backfilling holes and compacting soil. Uses hand tools suchas, but not limited to, shovels, post holes diggers, garden trimmersand rakes. Uses small equipment in the performance of duties such as, butnot limited to, lawn mowers, chain saws, trimmers and weed eaters.Performs manual work including spreading gravel, patching potholes,repairing or replacing culverts, fences, cattle guards and signs.Removes rocks, trees and debris from roads and rights-of-way. Trims treesand brush. Directs traffic at job sites and as required during emergencysituations, such as a flood or fire. Performs repairs or regularmaintenance on equipment. Provides assistance to Operators as needed in theperformance of their duties.
Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED);or one (1) to three (3) months of general experience; or equivalentcombination of education and experience.Valid and current Colorado Driver's License.This is an entry level position into the department with potential to learnadequate and progressive skills in the operation of the department as a whole.
Other Requirements: Must pass a drug screen, physical and backscreen.
Wage: $16.22 per hour
Shift: Full-time 40 hours per week. Discuss days and hours with employer.
