GENERAL DUTIES
I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.
I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Reporting to the Director of Data Networks and Systems, the Lead Systems Administrator exercises independent initiative and judgment to provide vision and management for the planning, development, delivery and maintenance of a variety of information systems and infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the management of employees in the Systems group, management of database/data warehouse services, developing and maintaining IT Disaster Recovery, reporting on infrastructure, strategic and operational planning, data security, and end-to-end integration of solutions.
This hands-on individual will collaborate with other campus divisions and units, including other IT groups to coordinate technology efforts and further the mission of the division and college. The Lead Systems Administrator is a strategic and key member of the IT leadership team and will be expected to provide expert insight and successfully execute strategic initiatives.
Specific duties include the following:
• Responsible for leading, building, evaluating and training staff in the operations of Systems team; manages a customer-focused team and defines performance goals and evaluations.
• Collaborates in partnership with stakeholders to establish business process requirements, analyze potential new services, prioritize projects, deploy and update systems/tools.
• Works closely with other IT teams to develop procedures, standards, operational controls, processes and communication paths for the monitoring and support of the technology operations, infrastructure and applications.
• Functions as an IT project leader and determines timeframe, cost, delivery, issue resolution, risk mitigation and status communications.
• Oversees development projects, from inception through implementation, to ensure timely and effective completion.
• Manages vendor relationships, including contract negotiation and compliance requirements.
• Monitors new developments and industry best practices to incorporate into operational management and planning for enterprise systems.
• Analyzes current programs, platforms and recommends products, architecture strategies, software platforms, database standards and development strategies.
• Measures user satisfaction with existing applications in seeking to improve services.
• Participates in overarching IT governance strategies and leads IT governance groups associated with the provision of information services.
• Ensures scalability and accessibility of applications and services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
COMPENSATION
$109,560

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Pure provisional employees that hold any titles within the progression (IT Support Assistant, IT Assistant, IT Associate, IT Senior Associate) are also encouraged to file for exam (s) in preparation for future promotional examinations.
