Otherduties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum of one year ofexperience in providing medical interpreting in English and the targetlanguage is required. Three years of directly related experience ispreferred. Experience at a Level I Trauma Center is preferred.EDUCATIONDESCRIPTION: High School diploma or equivalent is required. AssociateDegree or Bachelor Degree in related field is preferred. ProfessionalMedical Interpreter Program is preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:Must be bilingual in English and language to be interpreted, solidknowledge of medical terminology and competence in communicating themeaning of terms. Strong ability to interpret diagnostic processes,treatments, procedures, preventive care, and be culturally competentDemonstrate strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact withpatients, their families and health care providers. Ability to performunder stressful situations and medical emergencies. Ability to producewritten translation of material, such as: various forms, documents,patient letters and other material. Formal interpreter training ispreferred. 40 hour medical interpretation training program is preferred.CCHI or NBCMI Certification is preferred.LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: ValidWisconsin Drivers Licenses required.
