  The School of Social Work at Colorado State University ( CSU ) is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences ( CHHS ). We offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in social work, along with a dual master’s degree in social work and public health and multiple graduate certificates.   Position Summary

  The School of Social Work at CSU seeks a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track Instructor with the ability to teach social work courses across the bachelor’s and master’s programs in social work. This position requires specific expertise and credentialing in addictions. The instructor will have a course load of up to 12 credit hours (4 courses) each fall semester and spring semester. The instructor will work with the School of Social Work and Department of Psychology to provide oversight to the Masters in Addiction Counseling in Psychology and the Masters in Social Work joint degree program. The instructor will also provide service to the School, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and/or the CSU Campus.

  We are seeking someone who is committed to recognizing and confronting biases, racism, and oppression, and constantly striving to act in ways that affirm and support students, staff, faculty, leadership, alumni, and communities with whom they engage. The successful candidate will work closely and regularly with colleagues, the diversity and support service offices, and The Institute for Learning and Teaching ( TILT ) for training and support in best pedagogical practices for instruction, advising and mentoring.

  Applicants should have an MSW degree from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited program, a Licensed Addiction Counselor ( LAC ) credential, and a minimum of two years of post-masters’ practice experience in social work. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a college, university system, or non-academic setting. This position could include teaching in multiple areas of the curriculum, based on the faculty member’s individual background and expertise (e.g. courses on practice, policy, and privilege and oppression), but will require teaching addictions-related content.We are particularly interested in hiring someone whose social work practice and/or teaching experience is deeply connected to service within underrepresented communities, in order to further Colorado State University’s commitment to community engagement.

  Required Job Qualifications

  A master’s degree in social work from an accredited program

  A Licensed Addiction Counselor ( LAC ) credential

  At least two years of post-masters’ practice experience

  Teaching, training, and/or facilitation experience in academic or non-academic settings

  Identified contributions and/or potential to contribute to diversity and inclusion through teaching, research, and/or service/leadership

  Demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity

  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  Preferred Job Qualifications

  Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate students at a college or university level

  Experience in developing course objectives and competencies

  Experience living within or collaborating with institutionally under-resourced communities

  Supervisory and/or program administration experience

  Practice and/or teaching experience deeply connected to communities

  Ability to facilitate conversations around privilege, oppression, and intersecting social identities.

  Commitment to effective social advocacy to address structural inequities across local and global community systems, as demonstrated by professional or lived experiences related to diversity/inclusion activities.

  Experience working with and advocating for people with substance use concerns, centering a harm reduction framework.

  Planning and managing communications with students in collaboration with MSW Program staff and the Psychology department.

  Other administrative and service needs as assigned by the Director of the School of Social Work.
