Obtain blood samples and prepare them for analysis and distribution; Instruct patients in appropriate specimen collection procedures; Collect MRSA Pre-Op swabs.Determine appropriate tubes, sample types, and collection timing for the various laboratory tests.Responsible for receiving specimens from in-house and off-site clinics/agencies and determine their acceptability for testing. Navigate and research orders in eClinical Works, edit orders, and transmit orders to McKesson efficiently and accurately.Accurate and timely accessioning of patient and testing information into the laboratory information system (LIS) and initial troubleshooting of problems.Accurately identify and screen all Medicare orders for Medical Necessity utilizing McKesson - Pathways Compliance Advisor (PCA); review ABN status with patients or clinics, and obtain appropriate signatures when indicated.Responsible for the general cleanliness and appearance of the phlebotomy area of the laboratory. Tasks involve organizing or removing clutter and related duties.Lead Responsibilities:
Acts as receptionist for the laboratory, greeting patients, answering and triaging incoming telephone calls.
