About Inspector General

  Summary About the Position: This is an Inspector General position with the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command, located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. This is a DoD Acquisition Demonstration Project position. The NH-04 s equivalent to the GS-14 through GS-15. Responsibilities Provide technical guidance and advice to assigned personnel whose duties include conducting inspections, investigations and inquiries throughout the Command. Receive/analyze complaints from DoD Inspector General, Army Inspector General, Congressional, Executive Branch complaints, Whistleblower Reprisal allegations, telephonic/walk-in complaints, and queries from higher, subordinate/lateral headquarters. Review and act on complaints that are extremely sensitive and which can create wide exposure and a high degree of interest. Analyze and evaluate investigations and inquiries which substantiate criminal offenses and determines the appropriate documentation, testimony, and conclusions to be furnished to the criminal investigative agency. Represent the Inspector General (IG) at general officer briefings, meetings, and conferences with authority to establish or present the staff office position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving, evaluating, assigning and conducting quality control oversight for all Inspector General Action Requests (IGAR) submitted by complainants; controlling and managing schedules to assures timelines are met; identifying issues, and allegations to determine if appropriate for IG involvement; conducting a preliminary analysis to clarify issues, articulate allegations, and develop a plan of action; leading, planning and conducting IG investigations for allegations of alleged wrongdoing or misconduct. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03/GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Information Analysis Information Gathering Oral Communication Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (NH-03/GS-13). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is an Inspector General (55) - Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
