Job Description Indirect Tax Accountant 212 W 2nd St, Winona, MN 55987 HEADD Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 5:00pm OVERVIEW: Working as Full-time Indirect Tax Accountant, you will enjoy the opportunity to perform a variety of functions relating to indirect tax, with an emphasis on goods and services tax (GST) and value-added tax (VAT) related to our international locations, but also including sales and use tax, personal property tax, and business licensing, as well as participating in analytical and administrative projects. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals. RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: o Interfacing directly with external accounting firms to assist in the preparation and filing of monthly and quarterly GST and VAT returns for our international locations o Compiling various documents and reports to support the monthly and quarterly GST and VAT return review and filing process o Preparing journal entries related to GST and VAT return filing and payment activities o Assisting with the design and implementation of procedures to reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual activity related to various indirect tax filing requirements o Assisting with the preparation and filing of tax returns for various types of indirect tax related to foreign and domestic operations o Performing research related to various indirect tax compliance requirements o Assisting with external audits of various types of indirect tax, including gathering, organizing, and analyzing audit data, and working with auditors to drive audit resolution o Assisting Fastenal stores, customers, and others with correct sales and use tax exemption requirements and other tax questions o Identifying and implementing procedural improvements to enhance efficiency o Planning and organizing activities to complete assigned tasks on time with a high level of accuracy o Completing special projects and other administrative tasks REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The following skills and qualifications are required for this position: o Possess or are working towards an Associate's degree in Accounting o Excellent written and oral communication skills o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel o Possess the willingness and ability to manage results driven projects o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities o Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills o Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment o Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork o Ability to pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY) PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting o Experience working in a tax related field o Proficient using PeopleSoft ABOUT US: Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with over 3,000 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers.
