About IN2WORK Trainer - Harris County Sheriff

  Job Description

  IN2WORK (I2W) is a vocational culinary and retail training program for people who are currently incarcerated. The IN2WORK program aims to help reduce recidivism by providing incarcerated students with the opportunity to learn transferable, foundational food service and retail job skills through a comprehensive curriculum requiring classroom and hands-on training. Students receive a nationally recognized certification, scholarships, and preferential hiring status upon completion of the program, a key differentiator when looking for employment after release.

  The main purpose of IN2WORK is to teach students how to function in a workplace setting and work as a team, leading to an increase in public safety and a decrease in future victimization. Students learn accountability and responsibility through disciplined classroom and hands-on training. By building competent and confident graduates, I2W sets students up for success upon reentry.

  Job Responsibilities

  Implement the I2W Program at all applicable locations in Harris County, Texas (Food, Retail & Juvenile) and surrounding locations

  Manage and maintain the daily and weekly schedule of the program at assigned locations

  Track and report program progress to I2W support team

  Partner with client teams to recruit, schedule and retain students in the program

  Show sound judgment when working with confidential employee, client, and Aramark information

  Process oriented, with an exceptional eye for detail; diligent and sensitive to tight deadlines

  Partner with I2W team to remain current on progression of the I2W program, attend team meetings

  Track and maintain database of IN2WORK graduates all locations

  Track IN2WORK graduates who are released and have interviewed/offered jobs with Aramark and community partners

  Support and work with community groups to educate them on IN2WORK to help graduates find opportunities upon release

  Qualifications

  Experience as supervisor/manager within a food service operation

  Culinary and ServSafe certified

  Must pass extensive criminal background check

  Committed, results-driven leader who can make an impact; takes initiative, makes things happen, accepts accountability, and has a can do attitude; sense of urgency when needed

  Strong communication skills: oral and written, plus the ability to communicate appropriately with a wide range of people and behavior styles

  Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new situations, anticipate needs and plan ahead

  Ability to work independently and effectively in a team setting

  Demonstrated ability to lead without formal authority and build influence through logical and convincing decision-making

  Proven proficiency with the following computer applications: Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint; Smartsheet, a plus

  Well-honed ability to multi-task and prioritize; lead varied teams and manage high volume of workflow

  Proven track record of developing and successfully managing initiatives and strategies

  Consistent track record of meeting and exceeding performance goals
