Position Summary
The Head of School for New Covenant Academy (NCA) is a Ministry Staff role within Church of the New Covenant (CNC) and is under the supervision of the Lead Pastor. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide leadership and supervision for the Academy's operations and to further the mission of New Covenant Academy which is "to partner with families by providing Christ-centered academic excellence". The Head of School's primary role is to lead NCA spiritually, academically, and administratively.
New Covenant Academy is a PK-12 school that has been working *"to engage and empower students to positively impact their world for Christ" *for 45 years. With over 50 churches represented by the students and staff across 5 counties and two states, NCA is committed to advancing the Kingdom of God.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Head of School is an on-site position as part of the pastoral staff of Church of the New Covenant. This individual serves as the administrator of New Covenant Academy, providing spiritual, academic, administrative, relational, and financial leadership.

```- Seeks to be a role model in speech, action, and attitude with a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ- Is able to disciple and teach others in spiritual disciplines- Is involved in weekly church attendance at Church of the New Covenant- Is committed to Christian education as evidenced by the enrollment of his or her own school-age children in New Covenant Academy upon hiring- Implements scriptural principles of relationship toward others- Encourages staff, students and families to accept God's gift of salvation and to grow in their faith
ACADEMIC:
Provides oversight and leadership in the overall educational performance of the school's curriculum, standards, mission, and Biblical worldviewEnsures that Academy classrooms reflect a professional and Christian environmentImplements structure, procedures, and resources for curriculum developmentKeeps abreast of current developments in education through reading, graduate studies, conferences, and contacts with other educators Coordinates all research activities at the Academy including those in the areas of student curriculum, learning, evaluation and annual school testing programsPursues and provides leadership for acquiring appropriate academic accreditationADMINISTRATIVE:
Provides the Academy environment with appropriate rules, structure, and procedures in which staff, students, coaches, and volunteers can function efficiently, effectively, and collaborativelyOversees the plans for the academic year along with the major events of the AcademyProvides leadership and support for staff through meetings, in-service, continuing education, clear communication, and regular evaluations for academic successFacilitates meetings between teachers and families to evaluate student progressProvides for the evaluation, orientation, and placement of all incoming studentsUnderstands the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality in the operation of the AcademyMonitors legal compliance with relevant laws and regulations that apply to schools, and files all legal and regulatory documents in a timely mannerChairs the School Board and serves as an ex-officio member of all committeesWorks in collaboration with CNC staff, NCA staff, and the School BoardProvides oversight of facilities and equipmentRELATIONAL:
Serves as liaison between the hurch, School Board, Academy staff, families, and community, working toward a high degree of understanding and respect among all partiesMaintains a physical presence with the students by attending and, when possible, participating in chapels, assemblies, athletic events, and other presentationsCommunicates effectively with Academy constituents, including donors, local pastors, and community membersFosters relationships with churches represented in the NCA staff and student bodyPromotes effective parental involvement and influence on students' educational experienceFINANCIAL:
Collaborates as part of the NCA Finance Committee to:
Implement a strong internal financial controls procedure for the handling of Academy assets including the Covenant Scholarship OrganizationPlan for both short-term and long-term budgetary needs including, but not limited to, operations, capital improvements, reserve, and endowmentPresent an annual budget to the School BoardPresent accurate monthly profit & loss and budgetary reports to the School BoardOversee and manage the Academy's budgetary expenditures and procedures Authorize contracts to agencies or persons outside the Academy that are within board-approved budget parameters and are necessary for the efficient operation of the AcademyAssist with donor relations
Requirements
Qualifications
PROFESSIONAL:
A Master's Degree or equivalent is preferred, with a proven record as an effective educator with 3-5+ years prior teaching and administrative experienceA sound philosophy of Christian educationA possession of requisite skills of leadership, administrative management, and interpersonal communicationA sound understanding of elementary, middle, and high school educational programsA working knowledge of the physical, mental, emotional, and developmental needs of children with an understanding of the educational implications of those needsA thorough understanding of the teaching-learning process, the ability to recognize and develop good teaching, and a thorough background in curriculum content and developmentA working knowledge of effective principles and techniques of business administration, including organization and management, business finance, and marketingPERSONAL:
A team-oriented mindset, demonstrating a high value on collaboration and unityStrong organizational, professional, and interpersonal skillsAn ongoing desire to grow spiritually in personal study, in community with other believers and through sound teachingThe ability to meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, optimism and humility
