About GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Mechanic - non-TESA - Illesheim/Germany

  The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE), advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems.

  Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements.

  Interpret and implement directives and publications pertaining to maintenance, including environmentally safe maintenance practices.

  Maintains external fuel and grounding systems.

  Analyzes, diagnosis and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers and hand tools.

  Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.

  Inspects, tests and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.

  Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air.

  Evaluate and perform troubleshooting on GSE/Vehicles recommending required repair action.

  Prepare GSE/Vehicles for storage, shipment, and mobility deployment.

  Solve repair problems by using drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications.

  Maintain equipment records, vehicle forms, and document maintenance actions.

  Maintain and update paper and electronic equipment forms.

  Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications

  Check batteries on GSE/Vehicles for serviceability and performs preventative maintenance.

  Check GSE external fuel and grounding systems for serviceability and performs preventative maintenance.

  Remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall malfunctioning components.

  Stores, handles, labels, uses and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.

  Operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles.

  Provide pick-up and delivery service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.

  Will be required to drive on the flight line.

  Place orders for parts and receive and log delivery of parts.

  Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times

  OTHER or ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  When qualified and as assigned for crane operator duties must have three years of crane operation related experience and shall comply with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction, Subpart: CC Cranes & Derricks in Construction 1926.1427 Operator qualification and Certification.

  When driving must have a valid and current state motor vehicle operator’s license for the size and class of vehicle to be driven.

  When required must be capable of using Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties.

  Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

  Knowledge & Skills

  Knowledge of diesel-fuel and gasoline engine repair.

  Ability to use automated maintenance systems.

  Advanced understanding of tools and test equipment and their use.

  Capable of interpreting technical data, drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

  Knowledge of environmental safety.

  Knowledge of flight line procedures.

  Knowledge of GSE repair and mechanical principles.

  Knowledge of Automotive repair and mechanical principles.

  Knowledge of forklifts.

  Knowledge of Hydraulic systems.

  Knowledge of Diesel and Gasoline engine powered vehicles.

  Knowledge of supply systems.

  Ability to troubleshoot using computerized diagnostic testing devices.

  Ability to troubleshoot using conventional and digital multimeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes and circuit card testers.

  Experience & Education

  High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  Experience in GSE/Automotive maintenance is required.

  Completion of specialized courses in general automotive maintenance and repair of small engines or military equivalent schooling is required.

  Candidates must be eligible for employment under host nation laws and must meet all host nation requirements for the advertised position.

  Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  Must have a safe driving record to include no licenses revoked or suspended.

  Must have no history of being convicted of serious traffic violations such as driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

  Must be able to Read, Write and Communicate effectively in English.

  Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.

  Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.

  Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.

  May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.

  Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.

  Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.

  Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

  May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.

  Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.

  May work in normal office environment, maintenance shop or outside.

  Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.

  May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.

  May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.

  Travel: May be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions.
