The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) does not just operate state parks and preserve forests. The Bureau of Geological Survey is more than 180 years old! This science-based research organization collects, preserves, and utilizes data about Pennsylvania's geologic resources. The information gathered plays an important role in promoting environmental stewardship, human health and safety, infrastructure development, and economic growth.We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic students who want to learn about geology, utilize geospatial software, and help uncover the geologic history of Pennsylvania.DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis internship opportunity offers students a chance to acquire valuable skills in various tasks such as transcribing, copying, scanning, researching, and updating both analog and digital data files. As a student participant, your main focus will be on interpreting and entering data related to groundwater and geologic hazards. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to assist professional geologists in conducting field work to investigate different geological and hydrogeological areas. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of these subjects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employmentThe employment period will occur between the dates of 5/1/24 - 8/30/24.Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.Students may work nights and weekends, not to exceed 37.5 hours a week.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program.Freshman year completed.Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.
Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.Preferred Qualifications (not required):Students in the following majors:Geology/Earth ScienceEnvironmental Science
