Job Description
We recognize the value of having people with a variety of backgrounds, experience, and skills in our business. That means the role requirements here should be seen as a guide, not a checklist. If you have more, less, or different experiences but really relevant skills, we’d love to hear from you.
We work flexibly and will help you find a healthy balance of remote working and time in our fantastic offices, collaborating, participating in events, and getting to know people that makes working with us so rewarding. There’ll also be regular travel required onboard our corporate ships.
The Role
The Incident Analysis Group (“IAG”) is Carnival Corporation's independent health, environment, safety and security (HESS) internal investigations function consisting of a team of global investigators and support personnel, focused on analyzing significant HESS events and systemic issues across the company's nine cruise line brands.
We are now looking for a Senior Manager within this team with experience in the engineering or technical marine field. The position holder will be responsible for:
Determining root causes of HESS incidents that have occurred onboard our ships; identifying systemic issues;
Developing effective recommendations intended to prevent recurrence;
Extracting “lessons learned” from incidents (and not assigning blame) to strengthen a learning culture;
Staying up to date on the latest investigative protocols, processes, and innovative techniques;
Working collaboratively and globally across departments and operating lines to support the delivery of our business goals.
This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and worldwide travel will be required as part of this job.
About You
Fresh ideas and different perspectives excite us most and help us succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:
5 years’ experience in ship operations or service as a ship’s officer, preferably either engineering or technical, and / or experience as a marine accident investigator;
Experience of large passenger ship operations;
Knowledge of working with a safety management system;
Strong analytical skills and a good level of English technical writing.
Being part of our team offers a comprehensive range of benefits designed to help your personal and financial health and well-being. The role is offered as home working and on-site working via our US or UK sites.
Please note: We often receive high volumes of applications for our roles. In these cases we may close our job adverts early and aren’t able to consider applications once this happens.
