Set up and produce machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control CNC and wire EDM machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Work with other team members to create and maintain a safe and organized working environment/culture that meets/exceeds MAT HD - Rome facility standards and customer expectations.
Principle Responsibilities
Plans machining by studying shop drawings, work orders, and blueprints.
Programs CNC and wire EDM Machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; offset compensation and power settings.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample work pieces.
Performs machine maintenance, to include cleaning, inspection and replacement of consumables.
Performs selection use and care of special tools and measuring devices.
Performs layout work preparatory to machining using various layout tools.
Troubleshoots machine malfunctions, and corrects in accordance with pertinent technical manuals.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses or grinders.
Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blue prints, geometric tolerances, and finishes during the application of machining and/or repairing customer property and manufacturing parts.
Ability to apply and interpret precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
Demonstrate the ability to operate and maintain forklift certifications.
Maintain proper housekeeping.
Overtime, shift work, and weekend work is required, as needed, to meet quality and production related goals.
2 years technical degree in the field of EDM/CNC operations and programming and/or 2 years of EDM experience.
A thorough knowledge of machining principles, ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
Strong focus on safety.
2 to 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
Willingness and ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.
Must be willing to submit to background check, employment verification, and drug screen.
