DESCRIPTION OF WORKWhen you join our team, you will get hands-on experience assisting in the implementation of the Pennsylvania Department of Education's summer food program for children. You will be responsible for conducting basic sanitation inspections, collecting food samples, and sending them to the food safety laboratory. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to assist with other food sampling and surveying tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time internship that will last from 5/1/2024 through 8/30/2024.Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Physical location of internship position: Inspection work in Erie, Warren, Forrest, Crawford, Mercer, Venango, and Clarion Counties. Position will be home headquartered if applicant lives in one of these counties. If applicant does not live in one of these counties the state vehicle will be parked in one of these counties and they will be expected to be at their state vehicle at the start of their work shift.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable majors:
Food and Animal ScienceBiologyNutritionAn approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptableGood academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)Freshman year completedPennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
