GBAs Fire Protection & Life Safety Engineering group is looking for anengineer to join our Lenexa, Kansas office.
Our Fire Protection & Life Safety engineers work within an integratedteam of architects, engineers, commissioning specialists, projectmanagers, and construction managers on variety of project typesprimarily within the life sciences, mission critical, and industrialmarkets.

Responsibilities:
Depending on experience, lead or assist in code consulting, planning,design, and commissioning of fire suppression systems, fire detection &alarm systems, life safety systems, and hazardous material storage anduse.
Draft and model in AutoCAD and Revit.Prepare and review specifications.Perform hydraulic calculations.Review shop drawings and calculations.Conduct peer review of other firms designs for third-partycommissioning and/or permitting.Navigate, teach, and apply NFPA, ICC, and FM Global codes andstandards.Track schedules and check in with project managers for assignedprojects to balance several projects simultaneously.Attend project meetings and coordinate with team members of otherengineering disciplines.Visit job sites to verify existing conditions, observe constructionprogress, witness acceptance testing, and conduct third-partypermitting inspections - approximately 5% to 10% of the timedepending on current projects.Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Fire Protection Engineering, ArchitecturalEngineering, or other applicable Engineering degree.1 - 10 years of experience in fire alarm, sprinkler, and/or lifesafety design.Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.PE license is preferred but not required. Expectation is that hireewill pursue PE upon obtaining necessary work experience.Working experience in AutoCAD and/or Revit.Capacity to deal with frequent schedule changes, delays, andor/unexpected events.Excellent and professional written and verbal communication;excellent reading comprehension and as detail oriented as possible.
