Minimum Requirements:Up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level in Fire Science and/or Electronics and four years of experience in maintenance of Fire and/or Life Safety Equipment. Certified by the State of Kentucky to inspect and maintain Sprinkler Systems and/or Fire Alarm Systems. Factory certification on Grinell DCP-200 and/or Grinell Mini-plex 1000 systems. This certification can be used in place of the Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Systems Certification. Valid driver's license and must be insurable through the University. Must pass pre-employment physical. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Pay Grade 5 (Hourly).Position Description:Install, repair, and inspect smoke and fire suppression systems and life safety systems. Inspect, test and repair fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels, fire alarm related devices and test fire alarm systems, life safety equipment and peripheral equipment. Identifies hazard defects and the need for adjustment or repair. Follow up on corrective actions. Understand the National, State and Local Fire Safety Codes and law that pertain to the University Buildings. Troubleshoot alarms and answer calls regarding life safety devices and perform general building maintenance and preventative maintenance as assigned. Maintain all UPS Systems, security panels and card readers for all University facilities This position responds to emergency situations and is considered a "critical personnel" position. Maintain necessary records, reports and complete all paperwork required to meet state regulations and relevant codes on life safety devices within the University facilities.
