  Our employees make a difference in the lives of the citizens of Idaho. Join our team of accounting professionals! The Division of Management Services is recruiting for a Financial Specialist, Senior - Grant Reporter.

  The Department of Health and Welfare receives well over 100 different federal grants each year. The Grant Reporter is responsible for identifying unique fiscal requirements of each grant and tracking expenditures to ensure these requirements are met. The Grant Reporter also tracks reporting requirements and is responsible for ensuring all federal financial reports are prepared timely and accurately. Other responsibilities of the Grant Reporter include managing a very busy inbox and communicating effectively with internal and external customers as well as Department leadership.

  EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  Routes all awards for all grants.

  Manages grant reporting inbox.

  Prepares and maintains grant log to track due dates for all federal grants received by the agency.

  Creates and maintains work papers for use in compiling financial reports to submit to federal grantors.

  Completes quarterly and financial report routing for assigned grants in a timely manner.

  Completes monthly federal funding accountability and transparency act (FFATA) reporting and research as needed.

  Completes special projects.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position. It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.

  Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Typically requires at least four years of professional work experience as an accountant, or equivalent, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)ORan Associate's degree in accountingANDat least two years of professional work experience as an accountant or equivalent.

  Experience developing and preparing financial documents.Typically requires at least one year of full-time work experience.

  Experience using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data.Typically requires at least one year of work experience using a personal computer to develop, analyze and report on financial data as a regularly assigned job duty. (Experience tracking personal finances and using home financial software would not qualify.) Due to the rapidly changing information systems, your experience must be within the last five years.

  Experience analyzing financial activities and recommending management action.Typically requires at least one year of full-time work experience.

  PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  Experience using data extraction tools to research, analyze and develop financial documents & reports.Gained by at least two years of work experience extracting, validating, analyzing, and reporting financial data.

  Experience documenting business processes, or writing reports, or developing other financial documents.Gained by at least two years of experience where your reports or documents were used to explain complex and/or contentious business issues.

  Experience working with automated accounting systems (examples may include LUMA, STARS, Navision, P-Card, FISCAL, etc.).Gained by at least one year of work experience.
