About the role
The Finance Manager is to provide accurate US GAAP and local GAAP statutory reporting for all the assigned region’s entities. Oversee the day-to-day operations of direct team in the General Accounting Department.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing the reporting of financials for multiple businesses, ensuring compliance within established administrative policies, regulations, and acceptable accounting practices, providing service to internal and external stakeholders, evaluating complete assignments for conformance with applicable policies, regulations and tax laws and assisting internal and external auditors.
Supporting the Country Controller/Senior Finance Manager through working across the Entity Finance COE with the other Finance Managers in the Entity Finance COE to ensure that best practice and standardization of processes and practices are implemented in timely manner.
Main responsibilities will include:
Responsible for the US GAAP reporting and statutory compliance matters of all assigned region’s entities.
Collaborate with the Senior Finance Manager for the application of the general objectives and business management.
Establish a strong partnership with the General Accounting COE Belgium & Wroclaw SSC Poland, European Consolidation team, BP&A teams.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of general accounting activities in accordance with month and year end reporting deadlines.
Work with EY and other external advisers to ensure that all statutory accounts are completed on time. Ensure that all tax returns are submitted to the tax authorities on time. Partner with all external advisers to build ongoing relationships. Work closely with Entity Finance COE Leader and other Finance Managers in the entity COE and with Country Controller/Senior Finance Manager.
Ensures that financial reports and records are prepared in compliance with US GAAP and BD financial policies.
Continuously work on improvement plan in terms of month end close optimization and other areas identified.
To provide full support to the Country Controller to enable Country Controller to sign off on USGAAP and Local GAAP statutory and all compliance related matters. Full support for dealing with all key external stakeholders (EY, tax advisors etc.)
About you
Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting is required. Chartered Accountant/CIMA professional degree is a plus.
Must have experience in general accounting with 4-6 years of experience with minimum of 1 year + in managerial responsibilities.
Knowledge of local compliance and taxation requirement is needed.
US GAAP knowledge is key. Local GAAP compliance requirements primarily in South Africa market is must. Experience in East & West Africa region will be an added advantage.
People management skills.
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
Emotional intelligence, ability to work and build positive relationships within a matrix environment and with external partners.
