Spray pesticides, herbicides, weed, apply fertilizer, water,transplant, pot and label plants, shrubs and trees.
Identify proper variety and growth stage of cuttings for propagation.Take, prepare and place cuttings for propagation. Cut and transplantseedlings, trees and shrubs. Inspect plants to assess quality. Prune,stake, tie and trim plants, shrubs and trees into forms according toindividual varietal needs using hand tools. Cultivation of the largetree varieties involves the use of ladders and lifts.
Tag, tie, and prepare plants for digging and before bare rooting. Digshrubs and trees using shovels, other hand tools and nursery equipmentincluding skid steer loaders, articulating loaders, dump trucks andmechanical diggers. Wrap root balls of trees with burlap, tie, and load.Harvest bare root plants, prune and load. Tie, drag, lift, stack andload bare root and potted plants, shrubs and trees onto vans, trailersand trucks. Move containerized & balled and burlaped shrubs, plants,trees and plant material by hand or using carts, wheelbarrows ortractors with clutches.
Install, maintain, regulate and repair irrigation and climate controlsystems including inspection, adjusting and replacing micro irrigationtubes and emitters. Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, pine bark mediaand other materials to condition soil using wheelbarrows or carts,shovels and tractors with clutches. Clean work areas and maintaingrounds and landscaping. Repair, build or maintain nursery structures.Repair and service equipment along with hand tools. Workers with a validlicense and doctor\'s certificate may transport other workers invehicles provided and insured by the employer and be offered additionalhours.
Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, bees, insecticides, herbicides,fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker\'s ability toperform the job.
Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for theentire period requested by the employer, and work required hours/day.Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for a safe working environment.Wear assigned worker protective gear as directed.
Employer reserves the right to discharge an obviously unqualifiedworker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able but isunwilling to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow apremium quality product, or for any other lawful reason.
Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than thestated daily hours and/or on a worker\'s Sabbath or federal holidays.Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. Worker must report to work atdesignated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule mayvary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and otherfactors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
TERMINATION. Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluatesworkers\' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rulesand other employer policies. Employer may terminate a worker for causeif the worker\'s performance consistently and/or substantially fails tosatisfy the employer\'s reasonable expectations (in accordance with thecriteria set forth herein), or otherwise engages in serious or egregiousmisconduct that endangers health, safety, or property.
