About Facilities Systems Programmer

  Job Description

  Department: The Facility Services Department is focused on maintaining a safe, clean and effective environment for the Laboratory community as well as providing the infrastructure that aligns with and supports the research initiatives in a high quality, and cost-effective manner. The Operations & Maintenance team in our department provides the hands-on skill and expertise to enable our stewardship of the facilities. Functionally they engage in the maintenance and upkeep of electrical and mechanical systems, HVAC, grounds, custodial, construction, and more.

  Programmer Job Description:

  Primary responsibilities include programming, start-up, controller setup and installation, check-out and commissioning controls installations for construction projects. Programmer shall interface with the project team, participate in construction meetings, review design and construction administrative documentation.

  Review project I&C design drawings and specifications. Provide cost estimate when requested for use by the FSD Cost Estimator.

  Attend Construction Phase meetings.

  Review and provide comments on product submittals that impact the controls installation.

  Submit Request for Information as required to clarify the Construction Documents.

  Interface with the installing contractors to ensure field devices are properly installed.

  Attend equipment start-ups for equipment that interfaces with the BMS.

  Redline drawings for use in production of Record Drawings.

  Secondarily the Programmer shall assist with the operation of Building Management System and assisting mechanics with troubleshooting.

  Other responsibilities will include interacting with Laboratory researchers, engineers, operations and maintenance personnel, and contractors to provide safe, functional, and reliable control systems.

  Job Requirements:

  10+ years of experience working on building mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems is required. Extensive knowledge with equipment and system operation.

  Basic understanding of psychometrics.

  Experience with Continuum and EcoStruxure BMS platforms.

  Must be able to read and interpret ladder logic diagrams, electrical and mechanical schematic and installation drawings.

  Fundamental understanding of networking architecture.

  Candidate must have experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. They must be self-motivated with the ability to carry out accurate and complete assignments. Must also be service oriented and a willing teacher/consultant with excellent organizational and communication skills.

  A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or facilities management is desired, or equivalent years of experience and other education will be considered.
