Job Description:This position is responsible for utilizing assessmentoptions to identify and evaluate patient therapeutic, fitness, healthbehaviors, and/or sports performance exercise needs. This may includeelectrodiagnostic testing. The incumbent works with patients and clients todevelop treatment programs to assist in rehabilitation, health, fitness,and/or sports performance goals.
Entry rate: $22.80 + depending on experience
Scope
Assigns and instructs in appropriate workloads and/or work stations withrespect to the patients age, physical and/or mental limitations, andcapacity to perform within the exercise prescription set forth by the patientsphysician. Demonstrates working knowledge of appropriate testing procedures(i.e.: Six-minute walk test, bike test, arm ergometer test) andmaterials in order to perform valid functional capacity testing.
Assists in providing general mobility interventions and activities of dailyliving following a developed plan of care per delegation by the therapists orfloor RN.
Takes and records patient vital signs, BP, HR, O2 sats as assigned.Notes changes in the patients/participants physical, mental, andemotional status and responds in appropriate manner by addressing patientsimmediate needs, notification and involvement of other staff, andsubsequent follow-up with patients physician via telephone and/or SymptomRepor
Attends Cardiology Catheterization Rounds. Provides immediate and ongoingeducation/information to patient/participants regarding monitoring oftheir vital signs in class and at home, prescription and OTC medications,coronary artery disease risk factors, modification of exercise with regardsto temperature extremes, stress reduction techniques, recognition ofangina and heart attack symptoms, and appropriate increases/changes inworkload
Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit. Maintainsappropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
Completes daily, progress and discharge documentation according todepartmental standards. Accurately documents productivity information.
Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identifies potentialareas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revisedto improve patient satisfaction. Identifies potential safety hazards that maycreate problems for patients and/or staff, and takes appropriate actions.
Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides byservice behavior standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree, required
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS,required
Two (2) years of cardiology experience, preferred
