  As part of Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Engineer Intern 1 or 2, Engineer 3, Engineer 4, or Engineer 5 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the Engineer 5 is $126,256.   Engineer Intern 1 - Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate

  Engineer Intern 2 - Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience.

  Engineer 3 - Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus four years of professional engineering experience.

  Engineer 4 - Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus five years of professional engineering experience

  Engineer 5 - Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus six years of professional engineering experience

  Engineer Intern 1– Special Entrance Rate (SER) $26.44/hourly

  Engineer Intern 2– Special Entrance Rate (SER) $28.29/ hourly Engineer 3– Special Entrance Rate (SER) $33.39/hourly Engineer 4– Special Entrance Rate (SER) $36.90/hourly Engineer 5 – Special Entrance Rate (SER) $39.48/hourlyDOTD EMPLOYEES : Refer to appropriate EDSM directive for required structured training requirements and PPM # 59 Workforce Development on training guidelines.

  Qualifications

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.

  NOTE: Applications will be accepted from persons who possess a current Engineer Intern Certificate in states other than Louisiana. However, the applicant will be required to obtain a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate prior to appointment. The hiring agency will verify that all requirements are met.

  Job Concepts

  FUNCTION OF WORK:

  To apply scholastic theory and elementary engineering skills to a variety of tasks involving standard procedures and practices in the field, office, or laboratory in order to acquire practical experience for licensure.

  LEVEL OF WORK:

  Entry.

  SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  Direct from a higher-level engineer.

  SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

  Functional supervision may be exercised over Engineering Technicians.

  LOCATION OF WORK:

  May be used by all state agencies.

  JOB DISTINCTIONS:

  Differs from Engineer Intern Applicant by the presence of a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Differs from Engineer Intern 2 by the absence of independence when completing basic assignments.

  Examples of Work

  EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.

  Assists in economic justification studies for proposed engineering facilities and performs computations and analyses of cost-benefit engineering considerations.

  Applies basic engineering formulas to routine calculations.

  Assists in the instruction and training of water and sewerage superintendents and operators in the safe and efficient operation of their plants and in the performance of such routine tests as are necessary for proper control of the treatment process.

  Assists in the training of operators of swimming pools, etc. and occasionally aids in the classroom and field training of sanitarians.

  Collects samples for chemical and/or bacteriological laboratory analysis, using special techniques as required.
