  Job Description:

  Microchip Technology Inc. has a Sr. Engineer - Applications opening based in Allentown PA. The successful candidate will be working closely with the product development, validation, marketing, and sales teams to provide world-class technical customer support for the Datacenter and Server products. This will include assisting in design wins, supporting customer product ramp & production, documenting complex systems issues, and working with development teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.These activities require the ability to work and gather information across functional groups, external customers, and product programs to determine the optimal solutions for our North American and International customers.

  Job Requirements:Basic understanding of SAS/SATA, SCSI, PCIe, RAID and other storage related technologiesStrong design skillsHigh Speed Signal Integrity, Board Design experienceVerilog, VHDL KnowledgeExperience with board-level debug & bring-upExperience with bench top equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, logic analyzers, and other storage or networking related test equipmentStrong technical leadership, teamwork, communication and presentation skillsAbility to effectively work with cross-functional teams and across multiple geographical locationsMust demonstrate initiative and be self- motivatedIndependent but also works well within the cross functional teams across multiple geographical locationsCreative with an attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skills with customer facing experience and presentation skillsAbility to multi-task and still meet deadlinesProvide customer and field engineer support as needed

  Requirements/Qualifications:

  Additional Desired Skills:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer ScienceExperience with RISC based embedded processors (MIPS preferred)Hardware and chip development/debug skillsExperience with high speed debug equipment like oscilloscopes, DCAJ and BERTDebugging skills and experience with kernel (Windbg), JTAG, serial port, Greenhills DebuggerExperience working with Marketing and Sales teamsExperience in the Storage IndustryTCP/IP knowledge/experienceLocal Area Networking experienceExperienced with Storage management (MCTP, BMC, etc.)Highly structured programming in C, C++, and TCL/TK or other scripting language
