About Employee Relations Specialist , Amazon

  Description

The position can be based in Amazon’s new headquarter (HQ2) in Arlington, VA, or the beautiful Seattle, WA. This is a hybrid role (3 days a week in the office) because we believe it is easier to learn, model, practice, and strengthen our culture when we’re in the office surrounded by our colleagues.

This position requires an individual who has meaningful employee relations experience, subject matter knowledge, and strong emotional intelligence, communication and interpersonal skills that enables the individual to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee relations issues. The position supports Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Corporate Employee Relations in the Americas as Amazon strives to become Earth’s Best Employer.

The central objective of Amazon’s Employee Relations team is to ensure our organization’s treatment of every employee is fair, respectful, and consistent with our policies and core business values. To support that objective, 70% to 80% of this role will involve conducting end-to-end workplace investigations at a highly complex and sensitive level. The investigations will primarily involve application of Amazon’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Global Anti-Harassment policies. This work includes creating strategic workplace investigation plans, conducting workplace investigations, partnering with HR and business stakeholders to present disciplinary action recommendations as necessary, and advising on challenging employee situations. The ability to simultaneously drive multiple, highly-sensitive cases forward to timely resolutions is a key requirement of this role. The individual will also work proactively to enhance the employee experience by identifying and addressing employee concerns, as well as de-escalating and resolving workplace issues within the investigations the individual will lead.

While this role is primarily focused on investigations, there will be opportunities for proactive work depending on organizational needs, personal interest, and individual skills, including:

  • Conducting, analyzing, and action planning from multiple levels of employee feedback and other data to drive and sustain positive employee relations

  • Identifying trends and presenting recommendations to senior level leaders within ER and our partner teams

  • Working directly with employees at all levels to identify, address and resolve concerns through conflict resolution and one-on-one coaching

  • Designing and delivering positive employee relations trainings and communications

The position reports to an Employee Relations Manager or Principal, and is preferred to sit in our Seattle, Washington headquarters or Arlington, Virginia (HQ2). This is a full-time position that could require travel 30% of the time over the course of the year.
