OverviewUtah State University seeks a proactive, forward thinking, and thoughtful Emergency Management Coordinator to serve under and assist the Director of Emergency Management in University wide emergency management and preparedness. This position will have a primary focus on the USU Statewide Campuses. This position will primarily work remotely within the State of Utah, but will be required to be trained at Utah State's Logan campus. Under the leadership of the Director of Emergency Management the Coordinator will assist with: develop plans for the preparedness of and response to incidents and events at the University, USU Eastern, USU Blanding and its Regional Campuses (frequent travel to these campuses will be required); develop, organize, and administer the University Emergency Response Plan Program; review, coordinate, and update information requirements contained in the University Emergency Response Plan; coordinate with University safety and risk management functions for programs, interventions, and operations specified within the University Emergency Response Plan.This position will also be responsible for providing training to students, faculty and staff on life saving measures.
ResponsibilitiesEmergency Management and Planning: Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Management will assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the campus-wide Emergency Management/Preparedness programs as well as coordinate with Community Emergency Services as they relate to the University and the establishment of a viable campus Emergency Operations Center. Responsible for the validation of campus efforts in instruction, certifications, documentation, and selection of materials and supplies with designated federal and state emergency management/preparedness agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Homeland Security, and State of Utah Division of Emergency Management. Assist with the development and implementation of the campus-wide Business Continuity Plan including planned exercises for the evaluation of its effectiveness. The primary emergency management efforts of this position will be to the 30 USU campuses located around the state of Utah.
Training and Instructional Program Monitoring: Assist with the coordination and evaluation of the University training and instructional programs in the areas of Emergency Management/Preparedness and Operational Continuity. Coordinate, oversee, and evaluate emergency preparedness trainings, including for man-made and natural disaster emergencies. Provide life saving measures training - AED, CPR, Stop the Bleed, basic first aid.
