This role is a hybrid schedule in Seattle, WA and candidates must be located in Seattle.
One of our clients, a multinational athletic apparel retailer, is looking for an Enterprise Kubernetes Senior Platform Engineer to be a part of their infrastructure team.
Required Skills (these are non-negotiable and will not consider any candidates without ALL of the following):
10+ years' experience (or 5+ completed projects) in IT - focused within cloud/devops/site reliability engineering with a blend of AWS and Azure cloud, in enterprise-level (10,000+ employees) environments. AWS experience is the "must", Azure is a "great to have".
Strong Kubernetes experience (3+ years' experience or 2+ completed projects).
Specifically, we need someone who has hands-on experience with an EKS-based solution from a PLATFORM standpoint
This person should know how to manage Kubernetes control plane and data plane, have done upgrades, can come up with clusters, and some experience with service mesh (they use Istio, so that would be ideal but not required)
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with team members and other stakeholders. This person will be the senior engineer on the team and will need to help more junior resources when they are stuck.
Nice to Have Skills (not required but are a perk):
• Help with critical architectural decisions.
• Chaos engineering – help junior engineers with issues on this, unblock them if they are stuck. Netflix made this term – purposefully fail the system and see what happens to the application, make sure system gracefully handles this and caters to traffic, end users should not know anything is wrong.
• Experience on Service mesh - ISTIO is ideal
