　　What you’ll do:

　　You will take an active role in embedded software and electronic hardware engineering design activities within the NPD (New Product Development) department, through the full product lifecycle. Helping to conceive/develop early prototypes through to final design and validation testing within projects, complementing and assisting with the work undertaken by senior engineers as well as leading your own activities.

　　Key Responsibilities

　　• Reporting into Electronics and Connected Products Programme Manager. Direct contact as part of day-to-day work activities with other internal departments both local and global, such as Mechanical engineering, marketing, sales, purchasing, approvals, industrial design, external suppliers and customers.

　　• Assisting with the development of design solutions for new projects and existing product improvements. Delivering timely technical solutions for new products that are cost-effective, reliable and durable; ensuring that verification testing activities for products in accordance with qualification test programs and deadlines are completed.

　　• Supporting the hardware design of embedded electronics systems using a variety of existing and advancing technologies; primarily focussed around microprocessors, power supplies, sensor interfacing, power systems control (relays, TRIACs, solenoids, stepper motors, etc.) and user interfaces.

　　• Supporting the development and testing of embedded firmware (C), PC application software (C#) and mobile apps for our connected products.

　　• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary NPD project team, undertaking tasks as appropriate to the specific project but also capable of working independently on designated work packages and providing support to other engineers.

　　• Creating relevant supporting documentation including the raising and evaluation of formal concessions and engineering changes.

　　• Provide technical guidance and support to Customer Services, Engineering Product Support and Manufacturing teams; this could include troubleshooting assembly issues or helping to identify product faults and working to resolve them.

　　• Take a supporting role in advanced development, to explore new technologies which could benefit our future products and development.

　　Skills/Requirements

　　•Ideally, a degree qualified Electronic Engineer with an interest in a career in product design for the consumer market and 3-5 years of experience in industry.

　　• A good understanding of 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers and ‘bare metal’ programming (ST/Atmel/Microchip).

　　• Circuit design and PCB layout including EMC design considerations.

　　• Embedded C coding with an industry standard IDE.

　　• Creating supporting documentation and using version control.

　　• Hardware and firmware validation.

　　• Proactive and self-motivated, ability to work alone or as part of a small team.

　　• Excellent attention to detail with good interpersonal and communication skills.

　　• A can-do attitude with a willingness and desire to learn and develop both technical and soft skills.

　　• Prior relevant Electronics industry experience would be advantageous.

　　Experience/skills that would be desirable are as follows:

　　• An appreciation of the design of electro-mechanical products/mechanisms.

　　• Awareness and understanding of EMC compliance testing for Europe and Globally

　　• An understanding of Control and System Design.

　　• Knowledge of IOT, smart home/connected products and mobile apps.
