As an Electrical Engineering Group Leader based in Northern California, you’ll be using your design and analysis skills, to plan and design electrical systems for buildings and facilities, including commercial and institutional projects, as well as provide guidance and leadership to the electrical group. You’ll be called upon to use your inspirational leadership skills to provide mentoring and coaching to staff aligned to you, including development of e3 goals and performance reviews. GLs are also responsible for promoting inclusion and diversity within the office and the Electrical Team, working to ensure that all staff are given meaningful and equitable opportunities to progress their careers within Jacobs. We will ask you to provide leadership to your team as they design full electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, signaling systems and associated controls. You’ll lead meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them; as well as manage the quality of work and interface with clients. You’ll also have the chance to utilize your technical expertise to mentor other professionals, helping your team discover what drives them, nurturing their purpose and guiding them forward as well as interfacing with clients in managing the quality of work.
This Group Leader role serves as a critical member of the California Leadership Team.
In this role you’ll,
Promote a culture of caring, quality, safety and Inclusion and Diversity
Optimize financial utilization of a pool of aligned resources
Balance utilization across levels to ensure staffing profitability
Partner with Market Leader and Sales team to grow and maintain a sustainable work pipeline
Use the workforce planning tool to track and manage staff utilization on a weekly basis and partner with the PMs, and other project execution staff, to deliver on project needs and contractual terms
Act as hiring manager for required staff, working in concert with others around established hiring plans; including helping our business achieve TogetherBeyond goals and integrates new hires
Serve as key technical expert and resource on projects within discipline
Partner with Solutions & Technology counterparts to disperse knowledge and incorporate new technologies within assigned field
Manage performance and help talent grow and develop, using the e3 process
Steward career development – basic skill development and sustainment, growth opportunities and skill refinement
Coach, develop and mentor staff to deliver superior results collectively and individually
Coordinate across regions/Business Units/Lines of Business to optimize resource management and provide opportunities for staff growth and to promote profitability
Build team culture in concert with overall performance unit and company goals/strategy, and communicate with aligned staff (i.e., regular team meetings and 1:1 meetings, etc.)
Work with Market Leads and the Operations Leader to achieve staff retention goals
Approve time sheets and expense reports for aligned staff
Here’s what you’ll need :
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
Key technical resource for electrical projects
Demonstrated aptitude, ability, and capacity to build a team
Strong social, communication, planning, and organizational skills
Ability to develop other front-line leaders as part of succession planning
Understanding of the holistic role between Market Leaders, Group Leaders, Managers of Projects, Client Account Managers, and Solutions & Technology Technologists to lead and grow a sustainable team to meet business objectives

The base salary range for this position is $159,300 to $248,900. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations [add if remote]. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
