Job Description:
The EHS Manager is responsible for maintaining the Pomona distribution site, field/service and remote workers, as well as the Envista headquarters, in Brea, CA. They will ensure both are in full compliance to relevant EHS regulations, being the technical expert in EHS, and leading a culture that is safe for employees and minimizing risk to the environment.
The EHS Manager develops, implements and evaluates safety policies and procedures and ensures compliance in EHS. EHS Manager provides leadership and technical expertise in the development of strategies, programs and training to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and company standards, improve safety and reduce/eliminate EHS related business risks. This person will interface with external EHS agencies and partner with business/functional/EBS leaders on the development and implementation of action plans that drive closure of open issues and improvements resulting in improved safety performance and environmental controls. Occupational Health roles that are internally-oriented medical professionals that provide for and deliver health and safety programs and services to workers, worker populations, and community groups should be assigned to this job family.
Knowing, researching, and communicating all applicable Federal, State and County Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) regulations as well as corporate requirements
Developing and maintaining site-specific policies and/or programs to support the above
Establishing and driving the continuous improvement of a system to ensure a safe working environment
Auditing periodically the compliance to the established EHS system
Driving the correction of audit findings, internal inspection results, countermeasures to investigations and/or employee hazard reports or complaints
Maintaining OSHA logs for recordable incident
Hosting 3rd party and/or corporate inspectors or auditors and responding to their findings
Overseeing and coordinating the Pomona Distribution Emergency Response Team
Collaborating with the Ormco Pomona EHS professional on EHS matters of common purpose across the two building
Overseeing and guiding the Health and Safety Committees for the Pomona DC and Brea Headquarters
Conducting incident investigations into recordable accidents, serious near miss, environmental spills, and potential SIF events (significant injury or fatality)
Be the site's subject matter expert for EHS and provide appropriate training to all levels of the organization in those topics
Managing the site’s property risk protection program, in collaboration with the property insurer and other internal partners, such as Facilities, Maintenance and Operations
Managing all aspect of the site’s workers compensation claim management program
Elevating important issues quickly to upper management to increase awareness
Submitting all required forms to the regulating agencies on time and ensuring timely payment of related fees, and posting of required documents (e.g., permits, WC)
Maintaining organized records of hazardous waste handling
Performs other duties or tasks assigned by Managers
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field OR 5+ years of EHS experience in lieu of education or strong knowledge of Operational Management within a manufacturing environment
3+ years of experience leading Environmental, Health & Safety with emphasis in documentation and compliance, specifically related to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Federal/Cal OSHA and Local Safety regulations, IT and Physical/Facility security
Must reside within a commutable distance to Pomona, CA (fulltime onsite role)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to details and follow-though skills
Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proficiency with Oracle, SAP, or other ERP systems
Ability to engage and train others regarding safety, first-aid, security, and disaster response systems
Willing and able to travel to other facilities as necessary (Canada or Netherlands) - 10% or less
Willing to work alternate shifts as necessary, including overtime and weekends
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written formats as well as good written, oral, and presentation skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to utilize computer for standard business applications including work processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
