  Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, our Defense Systems wants you to your our Team as a SCA Aircraft Mechanic 3 and support a maintenance program with Northrop Grumman in Lake Charles, LA.

  The Navy E-6 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707 platform The aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. This platform, now modified to the E-6B standard, conveys instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines, a mission known as TACAMO ("Take Charge And Move Out").

  These positions are Service Contract Act positions.

  These positions will be hired for weekends, 2nd shift.

  Your primary duties include:Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessoriesBe able to assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors and other electrical components.Applies a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systemsApplies a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of partsBe able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, written instructions, etc.Applies basic knowledge of electrical theoryBe able to use a variety of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, etc.Applies detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipmentApplies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manualsReads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged componentsMake entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.Additional duties may include, but are not limited to:Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components of complex to extreme difficultyApplies a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modificationApplies the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alikeApplies a broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repairApplies detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical componentsMaintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operationMaintains repairs and modifies engines of complex to extreme difficultyPerforms preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspectionsPerforms miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakesPerforms 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burnt valves, inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segmentsInspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunctionBasic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum 10 years relevant experienceAble to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hoursAble to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel)Ability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions Able to wear respirator or other safety gear Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spacesPreferred Qualifications: A&P LicenseE-6B/707 experienceAble to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance Experience performing complex modificationsSalary Range: $33 - $36

  The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

  Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
