The EMD triages transportation requests, strategically positions resources, recommends effective routes while correctly interpreting computer aided dispatch recommendations. The EMD will also be required to triage incoming calls and provide pre-arrival instructions to callers when appropriate. Requirements Education * High school graduate or equivalent (GED) * Medical terminology course work or equivalent preferred Experience Experience * Must meet a minimum of one requirement below: * 6 months experience as a Telecommunicator at North Memorial Health Ambulance Communication Center OR * 1 year experience as a Dispatcher/ EMD/Telecommunicator in an EMS, Air Medical, Police, Fire or Security Communications Center OR * Completion of a 911 Communications Certificate Program (minimum 120 hours) OR * 2 years working as an EMT or Paramedic in an EMS or Hospital environment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve, make effective decisions under pressure, work independently and in a team atmosphere. * Requires the ability to work effectively with other hospitals' staff, public service agencies, peers, co-workers and the general public.
