Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to provide oversight for the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program and Teaching Fellows Program in the Cato College of Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This position will also oversee alumni activities within the Cato College of Education.
The Director of Teacher Induction and Alumni Engagement will be responsible for the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program and will oversee the coaches (approximately 12), budget, and professional development offerings. The director will also provide oversight for the Teaching Fellows program and will recruit teacher candidates, support the fellows, and provide professional development. The director will also plan and facilitate alumni activities for the college. This position will work closely with schools, school districts, and community partners.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Master’s Degree in education or related discipline
Current teaching license
K-12 or higher education teaching experience
Strong interpersonal communication skills for supervising staff and engaging with district/school partners, alumni, and various constituent groups
Ability to work well within a collaborative and participatory environment
Strong record of leading adult professional development (e.g., as a workshop facilitator, mentor teacher, coach, etc.)
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Experience as an Instructional Coach or other Induction-related Position
Experience in higher education or related context
Experience leading a team
Experience in recruitment
Experience supervising staff

Leadership in collaboration and outreach to schools
