Description
Summary/Objective
The Director of Information Technology will oversee all Information Technology (IT) needs of Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF) as the ultimate player/coach. You will work alongside and lead a team that supports our physical/virtual/cloud infrastructure, domain management and end user related IT operations. You will work directly with internal teams to document their technology needs and requirements, implement required systems and changes, and manage related audits and reviews. As needed, you will also source and manage external vendors and service provider contracts.

Duties/Responsibilities
Leads the strategic direction of the TRMF IT Department.
Leads development and implementation processes for the organization’s IT systems and department.
Oversees all technology operations (e.g. physical/virtual/cloud infrastructure, network, Cyber Security, database management).
Develops and implements business continuity plan and protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
Devises and establishes IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
Analyzes the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
Coordinates multisite IT systems via enterprise resource planning (ERP).
Prepares and oversees an annual budget monitoring the costs of needed equipment, software, renewals, and ongoing services.
Identifies and recommends new technologies and services that will improve efficiency, processes, and operations; reviews requests for additional services and upgrades, assessing the costs and benefits to TRMF.
Approves the purchase, rent, lease, license, or other acquisition of hardware, software, or services needed to meet TRMF needs.
Monitors and reports progress on development projects, resource utilization, and production performance to leadership team.
Ensures the integrity and reliability of computerized information systems, communication systems, and office systems including the security of data acquired and stored.
Facilitates preparation of project plans and proposals, outlining project objectives, IT requirements, and analytical and programming staff requirements for proposed systems.
Maintains with technological progress, economic change, and TRMF needs by directing continual improvements of IT staff, equipment, and procedures.
Leads and mentors assigned personnel.
Creates system guidelines and manuals for TRMF.
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hires and trains IT staff.
Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the IT team.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed in accordance with TRMF policy.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., this position regularly requires long hours, weekend work and On-Call rotations with the IT Team
Work Environment
Home base is in Medora, ND (flexible and hybrid work schedule optional). This position operates in a professional office environment with a presence throughout the organization.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to explain highly technical concepts in simple terms.
Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent analytical and management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Thorough understanding of IT, IT Operations Best Practices, and practical applications to support TRMFs goals.
Ability to lead and teach others.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science required, master’s degree or MBA preferred.
Proven experience as IT director or similar role.
Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
Up-to-date knowledge of latest IT tools, technologies, and best practices.
Experience in controlling IT budget.

Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. at times.
