PURPOSE:
The Director of Grants Management is responsible for directing grants management and integrating its work with the other departments of Little City Foundation. He/she is responsible for monitoring the grants management continuum to ensure the overall high quality of grants administration across all programs. Develop comprehensive corporate, foundation, and governmental strategies and proposals for Little City and identify, engage, and solicit corporate, foundation, and government grant opportunities. The incumbent will lead and manage all components of grant-seeking and grant award administration for Little City’s entire grant portfolio, including capital grants. The position will provide strong stewardship to existing funders and partners. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the grant process and grant management are essential for this leadership fundraising role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for prospect management, including but not limited to: Identifying, qualifying, and rating top corporate, foundation, and government prospects.
Developing and submitting grant proposals for new grant opportunities in which funders’ objectives and Little City’s activities align
Developing and maintaining relationships with grant makers through a stewardship effort that regularly keeps them informed of the organization’s goals and activities.
Responsible for portfolio management that includes, but not limited to: Maintaining Little City’s existing grant portfolio by ensuring ongoing compliance and re-applying for existing awards in subsequent grant cycles as long as the funder’s priorities continue to align with Little City’s mission and activities
Maintaining Little City’s grants management database (currently Grant Navigator) to ensure application cycles and reporting deadlines are organized and accessible to the grants team and other Little City constituents, as needed
Maintaining accurate grant records in Raiser’s Edge and/or other financial management software to ensure accurate reporting and budget projecting
Maintaining an efficient, organized electronic and hard copy filing system for past and present grants, including overseeing long-term storage of grant records
Maintaining internal reference documents and resources such as boilerplate text, organizational and program budgets, research references, a grant capital projects tracking spreadsheet, etc.
Responsible for providing general oversight for the agency’s grant administration, which includes, but is not limited to: Supervising the agency’s Grants Manager, Grants Assistant, and Little City interns in their work to conduct research, highlight funding needs, and prioritize opportunities for grant funding. Supervise and support grant activities and work performed by members of the grants team.
Leading the grants team in concept and program/project development. Attending grants-related seminars, workshops, and conferences. Joining professional associations to remain abreast of changes and trends in the profession.
Coordinating grants administration and processes with the finance/accounting team, including review and continual process improvement with respect to policies and procedures that affect grants, such as purchasing, restricted revenue, A/P, etc.
Coordinating capital grant projects with the Director of Facilities and facilities staff to ensure compliance with grant requirements, timeliness of project completion, and efficient, accurate communication with grantors regarding the progress of projects.
Coordinating non-capital grant projects with the leadership of departments, divisions, and programs impacted by specific grants to ensure compliance with grant requirements, progress toward project completion, effective data collection and internal reporting, and efficient, accurate communication with grantors regarding the progress of projects.
Assisting directors of Little City’s grant-funded programs, such as In-Home and Voucher Respite and Title XX, in writing grant applications; processing annual requirements, including grant entry in CSA Tracking and other state systems; and ensuring reporting requirements are met. Maintaining records of such state-funded programmatic grants.
Responsible for grant research and writing, which includes, but is not limited to: Consulting with grant-making entities regarding specific grant proposals to ensure that the proposal meets guidelines and/or initiative requirements and is a well-formulated request
Conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government sources. Research, cultivate, solicit, and steward foundations and government entities to maximize grant support for Little City’s mission and programs.
Utilizing Little City leadership, volunteers, and program staff in identifying and developing prospects manage the board mapping process
Providing on an ongoing basis, research that supports corporate, foundations’ and government entities’ giving priorities and identify the best match with Little City’s programs . Work with Little City’s leadership and staff to strategically strengthen proposals that will maximize funding potential while meeting client and program needs.
Responsible for grant program design and implementation, which includes, but is not limited to: Working with program leadership to prioritize programs/projects for funding and to build their funding case for support.
Working with finance staff to obtain information necessary to report to funders on proposed and current grant programs/awards.
Understanding the programmatic and capital needs and strategic planning vision and goals of the organization to best assess what resource development is needed.
Educating internal stakeholders about specific funders as well as grant timelines and processes to improve communication about grant prospects and improve the integration of grants into broader strategic planning.
Responsible for grant compliance reporting, and award management which includes, but is not limited to: Ensuring timely submission of grant letters of intent, applications, and reports using Little City’s grant management software (currently Grant Navigator) and Raiser’s Edge
Monitoring grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant requirements, including timeliness of expenditures and allowable costs, and adherence to Little City policies and standard grant accounting practices
Ensuring proper documentation of grant application source material, grant expenditures, and project outcome measures
Assist with and/or oversee the preparation of complex grant reporting and billing such as for capital projects and RTA’s Section 5310 grant invoicing
Preparing and presenting to Board, Board Committees, Little City staff, and funding organizations, when necessary.
Responsible for promoting community leadership by: Developing and maintaining contact with a broad cross-section of government, foundation, and corporate entities in the community
Participating in committees, focus groups, and other engagement activities organized by funding organizations, such as the RTA Section 5310 Program Advisory Committee, Hanover Township Agency Needs Assessment, or United Way Neighborhood Networks, as appropriate
Keeping abreast of emerging issues both locally and nationally, in part by monitoring federal agencies, such as the Administration for Community Living and HUD, which drive industry trends
Evaluating opportunities for potential partnerships that could have a positive impact on Little City’s grant, promoting such opportunities with appropriate internal leadership, and facilitating the development and maintenance of such partnerships as appropriate.
Responsible for providing effective strategic management by: Demonstrating strategic thinking to execute multiple tasks and responsibilities. Understanding Little City’s strategic plan and its impact on the needs of the Development Department.
Thinking strategically and plan accordingly. Demonstrate excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
Responsible for providing effective leadership and problem-solving by: Prioritizing and balancing multiple responsibilities tasks/projects effectively. Engaging, managing, and motivating staff and volunteer leadership; working effectively in a complex organizational structure.

Performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Development Officer.
Maintains American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR, if required.
Successfully complete Little City required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in a development-related field (e.g., non-profit management, public administration, communications, or social sciences), required , along with at least 15 years of successful experience in a grant writing management and supervisory role within a non-profit organization, including proposal writing and extensive prospect research. Experience managing staff, and developing relationships with corporate, foundation and government entities is required. Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects and competing priorities, and work independently with attention to detail. Possess strong communication skills both written and verbal and assume a leadership role in concept and program development. GPC and/or CFRE preferred. Possess proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and experience using a CRM System, such as Raiser’s Edge, a plus. Demonstrate strong verbal and professional written communication skills. Demonstrate ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to effectively represent the organization, internally and externally
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting for prolonged periods; frequently walks, stands, grasps , lifts, holds, or feels objects; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Extended use of computer and typing is required.The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working and handling office equipment. The employee is subject to assist and support up to 25 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a reoccurring basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate office equipment.
