About Director of Emergency Department

  POSITION SUMMARY:

  The Director of Critical Care has major responsibility for implementation of strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety and an outstanding patient / family experience. The Director of Critical Care assures the coordination of care across department lines through a focus on systems that promote interadisciplinary collaboration and communication. Responsible for supervision and oversite of the Critical Care areas, Emergency Department, Medic 55 ALS Program

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  EDUCATION:

  Minimum:

  Master’s degree in nursing or related area such as MBA, MPA

  LICENSE:

  Minimum:

  Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.

  PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

  Minimum:

  Certification for Emergency Nursing within one year.

  BLS, ACLS, PALS through the RQI system during clinical orientation.

  Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire.

  CPI certification obtained within 6 months of hire.

  Preferred:

  CEN or relevant certification strongly desired and TNCC

  WORK EXPERIENCE:

  Minimum:

  5 years of critical care nursing experience and strong clinical expertise.

  at least three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care hospital environment, preferably in emergency services and/or intensive care services

  SKILLS:

  Minimum:

  Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of improving department operations.

  This includes quality, patient safety, productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction (employee and patient).

  Candidate must have experience with emergency department performance indicators and using data to support analysis and solutions.

  Candidate must have experience applying best practices and innovative strategies to improve performance metrics, quality and the customer experience.

  Candidate must have experience establishing, building and developing positive relationships with staff and physicians.

  Must be a highly visible, engaged, take charge leader who has a willingness to coach and mentor.

  Candidate must have knowledge and understanding of State, Federal and Joint Commission requirements.

  Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point & Meditech

  Salary: $130, 000.00 -$150,000.00
